'SAA BOEING 727-100 ZS-SBB (LIMPOPO)' - Acrylics on Canvas Board

SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS BOEING 727-100 ZS-SBB “LIMPOPO” 1970’s LIVERY. This Boeing 727 has been my favourite jet airliner since a young teenager in the 60's. I used to climb high pine trees at home to view them taking off from the Port Elizabeth Airport 10km away and flying over our small holding on the outskirts of the city. I always marvelled at its power and deafening engines! Even going so far as to taking binoculars up with me so that I could watch them disappearing towards Cape Town with that tell-tale brown streak trailing behind. They were so loud I could hear the thrust reverses roaring after touch down 10km away. It was also the first jet aircraft that I flew in coming back from military training in 1969 and had a seat near the rear. I clearly remember the roar and vibrations on take-off. Its taken me 55 years to eventually paint my aircraft idol!
