He started managing the Yankees in 1932 and he managed them to many championships including the 2 years of his contract which was 1936 and 1937! What we have here is an incredibly rare contract signed by Joe McCarthy and by Ed Barrow who was the general manager of the New York Yankees, Jacob Ruppert, the president and owner of the New York Yankees, and William Harridge who was the president of the American League Baseball Club of New York authorized this contract. This contract is so rare and unusual by itself but what makes it even more unique and historical is the fact that it states for the first 2 years, under salary, it is crossed out blank.
