Babe Ruth's NY Yankee Unique Custom 1927 Cig.Case W His Handpainted Img Est 30K! Item Description: This unique cigarette case pays tribute to Babe Ruth. It is a 3 1/8" x 4 1/2" clam shell case with a Bambino's bust of Ruth wearing a Yankees cap and pinstripe shirt. The cover has an engraving of "NEW YORK MAY 1927" while the inside lip has a small engraving of "F&M Extra Quality Silver Plate". The inside of the case also has a modern styled hinged arm used to hold cigarettes in place. The spring locking catch works properly. Based on our extensive research, we believe that this was given to him at the end of the 1927 season in recognition of his historic record of 60 home runs in a single season! That record lasted until 1961 and stood for 34 years. We believe this was custom made and given to Babe Ruth for his tremendous achievement.
