Description Iridium Passive Antenna Iridium satellite phones use a passive antenna, which can be either an element linked directly to the handset or a remote aerial connected by a short coaxial cable. This antenna is compatible with any Iridium satellite phone or docking station and will assist in maintaining a strong connection. Overview This is an excellent addition to help complete your worldwide satellite communications solution because Iridium satellite phones were built to operate with some form of antenna. Due to attenuation of both received and sent signals, a signal loss of more than 3dB in a remote antenna's connecting connection reduces performance. A 3dB loss translates to around 20m of LMR600 or 6m of LMR240 coaxial cable, which severely limits the antenna's mounting possibilities using normal down-leads. It's ideal for permanent in-building or marine applications, and it's designed to work without a ground plane in free-air mode. Specifications Weight 1 lbs Dimension
