History of the Artifact Now available to you are authentic 1800 year old Roman Empire Bronze coins used by common folk throughout the Roman Empire. These very coins would have been used to purchase loaves of bread and bottles of wine in ancient roman markets; or perhaps, they may have constituted a labourer or Legionnaire’s daily wage.  These Roman bronze coins were referred to as ‘Follis’, meaning ‘bag’ in Latin - indicating that these coins would often be used in large quantities to carry out a transaction, given their relatively low face value. On the Obverse of the coins are depicted various Roman emperors of the likes of Constantine the Great, Diocletian and Maxentius to name a few.
