Tamiya - 1/48 Grumman F-14A Tomcat (Late Model) Carrier Launch Set

  The F-14 Tomcat, a famous aircraft, was used by carrier-based units from 1973 to 2006. Equipped with a powerful radar and long-range missiles, its main variant was the F-14A which received upgrades throughout its production. The late F-14As, produced in the late 1980s, had a more reliable engine design and also featured the AN/AXX-1 TCS camera pod and the AN/ALQ-126 ECM antenna. Some models even had the ability to install the TARPS reconnaissance pod into the fuselage. In the early 1990s, the F-14A became a more versatile fighter with the capability to mount bombs on its belly and use laser-guided technology with the AN/AAQ-25 LANTIRN pod. Launching the aircraft from a carrier required a steam catapult and a team of flight deck crew, including a "Shooter" who gave the signal for take-off.   About the Model This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit.
