1804 New York Secretary of State Daniel Hale signed letter ALS & Albany postal cover CDS to David Galston US Custom House in New York City. Daniel Hale was Secretary of State of New York from 1798 to 1801, and from 1810 to 1811.  He was one of the first directors of the Bank of Albany and also served in the NY State Assembly.  During the 1790s, Hale enjoyed the patronage of Alexander Hamilton and was a substantial supplier of the US government.  At least one other of his letters is in the papers of Alexander Hamilton.https://exhibitions.nysm.nysed.gov/albany/bios/h/dahale8306.html https://rotunda.upress.virginia.edu/founders/ARHN-01-16-02-0249
