This piece is made using hand embroidery with a method called needle painting, which blends traditional hand embroidery with illustrative principles. I created this piece (and it's pairing piece, titled Meltdown II) to be vulnerable about feeling out of control during autistic meltdowns. I hope to represent a complex reality of living with disability.  6”x6”, Embroidery floss and acrylic on linen. Stretched and framed in a black walnut floater frame. Shown in Lucious. Tasty. Delicious. group exhibition at Barrett Art Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. (2021)Due to the sheen of the thread, embroidery looks different in direct and indirect lighting. Changes in appearance of texture and color depending on light source and intensity is normal due to the nature of the medium.
