Early Autumn Leaf Basket
I love the time in early autumn when leaves start to change colors and float lazily off trees, in no particular hurry to end summer or begin fall. The Early Autumn Leaf Basket is my version of that in-between time of the seasons, captured in wire and paper. Shades of greens, oranges, browns and yellows mix together as the leaves. As though they are falling off a tree, these leaves form the shape of the basket. Patterns on the leaves are made with tiny slivers of paper applied with equally tiny brushes and glue. Vintage buttons decorate the center of the basket’s base. Due to the handmade nature of my work, no two baskets are ever quite alike.
