Near Fine brown cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spines. Covers have slight wear to extremities and slight fading along spines, else clean and intact, bindings tight, sharp tips. Very Good brown patterned paper-covered slipcase with printed lettering on two of the sides. Slipcase has slight wear to edges and tips and a few spots of surface chipping along edges, else clean and intact. Pages have light age toning and Volume Two has a black smear limited to fore-edge of text block, else pages pristine and intact. Sixty full-page black-and-white plates included between both volumes. List of Plates in front of each volume. Beautiful two-volume set about the letters of the famous Italian Renaissance artist, Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564). "[T]he first complete and unabridged edition in English of all the extant letters of Michelangelo." Annotations provide background information to the letters. 44 Appendices included, some of which give additional contextual background to Michelangelo's letters.
