ISBN: N/A Two volumes, complete. Two Fine beige cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on red decorative rectangle on beige spine. Covers have light age toning and a few tiny marks or smudges, else pristine and intact, binding tight, sharp tips. Near Fine red cloth-covered slipcase with color plate tipped in on one side. Slipcase has slight wear to extremities, light rubbing, and a few small marks, else clean and intact. Pages pristine and intact. Black-and-white illustrations included in Volume I. Volume II is principally color illustrations, namely, the facsimile reproductions of the Yale University manuscript. Beautiful two-volume set about Ferdinand Magellan's circumnavigation of the world as documented by Antonio Pigafetta (c. 1491-c. 1531), a Venetian scholar and explorer who was part of Magellan's expedition. Vol. I contains Pigafetta's account as "translated and edited by R. A. Skelton from the manuscript in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Yale University." Vol. II contains color facsimile reproductions of the Yale University manuscript which is a transcription of Pigafetta's original manuscript, the latter of which is now thought to be lost.
