12-STRING PENTATONIC Auris Pentatonic Children's 12 String Lyre is a specially constructed solid maple wood lyre with the characteristic notch in the bottom, which gives it an especially balanced tone. Two bridges made out of hard wood and brass ensure a harmonic progression between the high and the low strings. Pentatonic Lyres are best for young children up to age 8 or 9 years. Around this age, you will want to think about changing the strings from Pentatonic to Diatonic if your child will be playing this Lyre as an instrument for school, music class, music lessons or orchestra.  The body of this Lyre is the same model as the Diatonic 12-String Lyre. If you change out the Pentatonic Strings for Diatonic Strings, it can follow your child into the upper grades.
