This is an example of a remote-indicating Course / Directional Gyro Indicator as used in the 1950's Korean War-era MiG-15 jet fighter of the Air Force of the People's Republic of China (courtesy of the USSR).  See the indicator as it appears in the MiG-15 Flight Manual dated 1955, see photos.   The indicator provides directional and course information to the pilot as transmitted from the gyros mounted elsewhere within the aircraft.  The knob at 6 o'clock turns the perimeter compass scale to select the desired course, while the pointer rotates per the signals received from the gyro. The page from the flight manual shows a diagram of the system (2 are depicted as this manual is for the two-seat MiG-15).  See the Chinese characters on the data label, likely from a two-seat MiG-15 UTI trainer made by the Shenyang Aircraft Factory and designated in China as the JJ-2 (from Wikipedia). It is in fine but 'experienced' condition for its age. Measures ~3.25 inches diameter and ~3 inches deep.
