Labels Schroeder, Romero & Shredder, NY Very Good Original Condition  Frame 49 x 49 x 2” Image 40 x 40” From: Queening, 2010 This multi-part, multimedia installation explores the transformative nature of the fetishized object–sexual or otherwise–and how these fetishized objects can be used to question notions of luxury and class. Works on view include sterling silver furniture, c-prints, harlequin puppets, antique textiles, large-scale bronze sculpture, and found objects cast in precious metals. Many of these works incorporate an abstracted pattern of hair, transforming a fetish prominent in many cultures culture into a decorative element, highlighting how the fetish itself can be denuded of its mystical power and made into something safe.
