Aromatic Cedar, Juniperus virginiana Heartwood tends to be a reddish or violet-brown and the sapwood is a pale yellow color that can be appear throughout the heartwood as streaks and stripes. It is typically straight grained, usually with knots present and a very fine, even texture.
