Pi Crate

Pi Crate Lesson Intentions: This kit will guide your child/student in understanding and applying the following concepts: nomenclature of the circle and its parts including: sectors, arcs, circumference, chords, radius, diameter, pi, and semi-circle; understanding and applying the pi equation using a hands-on approach; and understanding and applying equations to figure out the surface area of a circle and the sectors of a circle. This lesson kit is great for grades 3rd through 7th. For younger grades, you can start with the first few activities and then save the future activities for future years.  Happy Pi Day (March 14th)! K through 8th: You will bake a pi and work through the following lessons: Lesson 1: A circle and its parts (before pi day on 3/14) Lesson 2: Exploring sectors in a circle (before pi day on 3/14) Lesson 3, activity 1: Circumference practice and Pi day, this lesson is meant to be done as a group or with the teacher/parent.
