Over millions of years, fossilized skeletons of prehistoric coral slowly develop into agate. Those skeletons commonly appear as tiny flower patterns like the ones in this pendant. This earth-toned triangle-shaped fossil coral is set in a fine silver bezel on a darkened background surrounded by a sterling silver frame. The pendant (with bail) measures 2-1/4" tall and 2-1/4" wide. It hangs from a double strand of sterling silver chain in your choice of length. All metal is sterling silver (except fine silver bezel) that has been oxidized, tumble polished and sealed with a protective coating. Fossil coral is a natural gemstone that is created when prehistoric coral is gradually replaced with agate. The fossil coral forms through hardened deposits left by silica-rich waters. The entire process can take over 20 million years. Most fossil coral is found in Indonesia and the USA (in Florida and Georgia).  Care:  As with all handmade jewelry, this necklace is delicate and should never be worn
