Victorian Sterling Aesthetic Movement Mixed Metals Locket

A beautiful mixed metals locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Particularly large in size, this fabulous piece is made of sterling silver, and has an unusual aesthetic movement design. Two paddle shapes rest on the surface, each containing a mixed metals bird inside. The yellow and rose gold birds contrast beautifully with the silver background! Surrounding the appliqué image is an engraved leaf pattern, a wonderful finishing touch. When opened, the locket reveals two spaces where special photographs could be stored inside. It hangs from a large fluted bail, perfect for pairing with a favorite silver chain. It is a lovely example of Victorian artistry and would make a spectacular addition to any collection!   Measurements: The piece hangs approximately 2 3/4" long, including the bail.
