Special Mercedes removal hooks are needed to remove instrument cluster (easily could be bough at ebay or from MB). Cluster must be removed from the vehicle and its rear cover removed (4 screws). During the measuring cluster must be powered up. You can do it either connecting it back to the vehicle and turn on ignition to position 2, or it is also possible to power it up without the car (12V external power supply at least 1A).
