
San Antonio de Padua Retablo Ornament
Finder of Lost Objects and Animals, Patron of Worthy Husbands, Women who Want Children, Orphans and Miracles. Antonio was born in Portugal in 1195 and died in 1232 at the age of 36. He became a Franciscan monk trained by San Francisco himself. He was a very charismatic preacher bringing even the biggest sinner into the light. He was said to have radiated an unusual holiness. He performed many miracles. A novice once borrowed his prayer book without asking but returned it after a "fearful apparition" overcame him. This is why San Antonio is patron of lost objects. Lynn Garlick Retablos grew organically over a period of 20 years. To create these heart-felt paintings of saints, angels and blessings, Lynn has brought to the folk art of Retablo making, all the skills and passions that she has learned through a lifetime of drawing, woodworking and painting.
