
Mexican Spiced Chocolate Coffee
What is Pinon you may ask? We get that question all the time. The pinon nut is from the Pinon Pine tree which is the New Mexico State Tree. It grows generally in the Southwestern US at elevations from about 5000 feet up to roughly 7000 feet. The pinon nuts it produces in the fall are an epicurean delight. Locals take to the woods in droves to fill their buckets full of nuts to use throughout the year. The New Mexico Pinon Coffee Company began roasting coffee over 20 years ago in Albuquerque in the back of a pickup truck. Now from those very humble beginnings with over 1 million pounds of coffee roasted each year, they are the largest coffee roaster in New Mexico. The beans are hand-roasted to protect the excellent quality, flavor, and aroma we have come to know and enjoy. The hand-roasting also makes the coffee very consistent.
